Join us to network, learn something new about the College of Engineering and enjoy a cold drink at Jackrabbit Brewing Co. in West Sacramento. Our spring quarter event will feature Geoffrey Schladow, professor and founding director of the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center.This is a free event and includes light refreshments and one drink ticket per UC Davis alumni attendee (not sure if this also applies for current students!). Picnic Day -- 4/23 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Please join SWEGS for Picnic Day! This is the first Picnic Day since 2019 and is a not to be missed event! Aggie Day -- 4/9 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please join SWEGS in welcoming admitted first-year students to come learn more about the college. SWEGS and GGSS will be hosting tours of the labs in Bainer and Ghausi. Come share your experiences with the newly admitted students. Free lunch for volunteers! Atmospheric Sciences Seminar lead by Dr. Carolyn Reynolds from the Naval Research Laboratory -- 1/31 3:10 - 4:00pm The U. S. Navy Earth System Prediction Capability (Navy ESPC) system: a global coupled atmosphere-ocean-sea ice forecast system. The motivation for fine resolution in the ocean will be presented.
Hydro Sciences Seminar - Darcy Lecture Series. Lead by Dr. Chen Zhu, 2021-22 Darcy Lecturer, Professor, Indiana University - 2/10 12-1 pm. Are Geochemical Reactions in Aquifers Connected to Climate Change Mitigation?
Field trip to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model -- 2/12 11:30am - 5pm. The Bay Model is a working hydraulic scale model of the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta System. We have a tour scheduled at 1pm, so we need to leave Davis by 11:30am. SWEGS Outreach Event -- Volunteers Needed! - 11/5 1-3:30 PM. SWEGS will be teaching lab demonstrations to 39 sophomores visiting our department from Ghidotti Early College High School. If you are interested in chaperoning a group of students or leading a lab demonstration, please contact Yusuke, yhiraga@ucdavis.edu.There is no experience or specific knowledge background required -- just a passion for water and environmental science!
